Mario & Luigi: Brothership Switch NSP XCI

Mario & Luigi: Brothership is the latest adventure RPG in the Mario & Luigi series. The game takes Mario and Luigi to a new world called Concordia, once a single landmass that has been split into floating islands after the Uni-Tree was destroyed. The brothers’ task is to reunite the islands and uncover the mystery behind the destruction.

In the game, players control Mario and Luigi simultaneously, each with dedicated buttons to jump, attack, dodge, and interact with the surrounding environment. Exploration is done by traveling around using Shipshape Island, an island ship that also functions through various islands with unique themes such as tropical forests, bustling cities, and summoning areas.

The turn-based battle system gets a new twist with elements of timing and strategy. Players can use “Bros. Moves” to overcome obstacles during exploration and powerful “Bros. Attacks” in battle. Other features include “Battle Plugs,” which grant additional abilities like shockwave attacks or critical hits against flying enemies, as well as the new “Luigi Logic,” where Luigi’s unique ideas help solve puzzles and take on bosses.

Overall, Mario & Luigi: Brothership offers a fun RPG experience with bright cel-shaded graphics and Mario’s signature humor. While some players may feel that the game isn’t a huge departure from its predecessor, it’s still a solid choice for fans of the Mario & Luigi series and RPG fans in general.
